Just one more reason that Michele is great

As previously mentioned, I’m attending Steve’s bachelor party this weekend.  Included in the shenannigans is a trip to lovely E-town, Illinois, for a football game between your Northwestern Wildcats and the University of Wisconsin Badgers.

Knowing that I had to get up early and pack a bag and get ready and get to work, my body (of course) completely failed me and I overslept by about an hour this morning.  I raced around getting clothing together, showering and getting ready for work.  I skipped breakfast, bid Mish and the puppy farewell and off I went.  It wasn’t until I’d been in the car over an hour (pulling into the lot at work, actually) that I realized one thing – I left my football ticket magnetically clipped to the side of my refrigerator.

O the horror!

I fretted and schemed and thought about hijacking a helicopter, then I realized that I don’t have a helicopter available.  So I emailed Michele and berated myself for being an absolute idiot.  And then she saved me from having to race home through ridiculous Chicago-style deep-dish traffic, trying to get the ticket and get back to the airport before Steve & Co. figure that I’d abandoned my post as chauffeur for the evening.

Michele is going to go home after work, let the dog out, feed her and play with her a bit.  Then, she will get the ticket and drive 30 minutes south to the wonderful Walgreens building right off of 94.  In the meantime, I will get Steve, his brother and boss and take them slightly out of the way up to the Walgreens building right off of 94, where Michele will meet us and hand over the the precious gameday admission.

Due to my gaffe, Michele has to spend an extra hour or so in her car and Steve’s crew gets a wonderful tour of the far northern suburbs and their lovely highway construction projects.  But everything is resolved.

I love my wife.
